The first date is a big deal and if you do it right you’ll stand out amongst a crowd of guys a girl has dated. If you want to be the one she settles down with or at least the one she chooses to hook up with on the first date you need to stand out. It’s easy to go to a coffee house or take her out for dinner and a movie but easy doesn’t win you any points from your date. You need to step it up and we’re here to help you out with first date ideas that should put you ahead of most guys she’s dated. There’s even a bit of science behind this. New experiences form unique memories. If you take her to the movies (for the purposes of this article it will be a guy taking a girl out but you can imagine it the other way if you want) you’ll be lumped in with all the other guys that have ever taken her to the movies. If you do something unique or close to unique then you’ll stand out in her mind, all of which helps you get to the second date (or second base).
First date ideas tend to be best if they’re tailored to your specific city or town but we don’t have that luxury here so we’ll have to be more general. However, if you want to do something specific to your city then be sure to keep in mind that unique is almost always a good choice (if the date goes terribly wrong because it was so unique then it might not be a good choice; it will be a significant memory though) and move forward with that in mind here are some first date ideas which I have found success with.

If you’re in an area that allows for ice skating it’s an excellent choice. It almost always results in innocent physical contact as you use each other to keep your balance and if neither of you is an expert you can share in your lack of balance on the ice. It’s a unique enough experience that she likely won’t have done it with lots of guys and it’s actually a lot of fun. If the rink is at least a little bit busy you’ll find there’s an infectious joy running through everyone that will leave you both a little bit high on life when the skating is over and that’s an invaluable thing to have on a first date.
If you’re a golfer and she has a little skill at the game or has an interest you should take her to the driving range. This allows for the classic dating move of helping her with her swing and potentially initiating physical contact by getting behind her to assist her with the proper movements. That’s a bold move so you need to make sure she’s in the mood for it if you’re going to take that step but if she is then you will be well on the road to a goodnight kiss and perhaps and invite up to the apartment.
A trip to the aquarium or zoo is a fantastic idea if she’s an animal lover. It allows for casual conversation so you can get to know each other and because there’s so much to see you never have to worry about awkward lulls. If the convo dips you can simply mention a great exhibit or animal you want to check out. Plus, there are usually quiet spots where you can do a little kissing. A first date with a bit of physical exertion like a hike is a great idea too. Working a bit will help cement those positive memories and embed you in her brain as a guy she wants to see again because you make her feel good (exercise releases endorphins that make a person feel good and you’ll be associated with those).
